From teenage inspiration to millions of dollars raised
What if our children grew up in a world without extreme poverty?
Opplift was founded in 2011 by a 16 year-old Kris Asleson, who was frustrated with the lack of awareness his peers demonstrated towards the global poor. “Out of sight, out of mind” was a big problem, and those that were in tune with the issues were known to just throw money at the problem instead of “teaching to fish.” Kris rounded up a founding board and set out to create a new kind of non-profit organization, focused on sustainability and relatable even to middle school supporters.
