About OppLift

About

“We believe we’re capable of ending extreme poverty in our lifetime.”

our story

From the Founder

“I started OppLift with a few friends when I was 16. Although I didn’t know much back then, I knew that a world where thousands die every day from poverty-related causes was unacceptable. I also felt that this problem needed to be met with a new kind of non-profit, one that truly engaged the next generation, the ones that had the potential to end this extreme poverty during their lives.

With all the technologies and resources we have in our world, we should not see 20,000 children dying every day from poverty-related illnesses. Yet this is where we find ourselves, and this is why OppLift was started by a group of young visionaries who believed that the problem must be more about storytelling than statistics. Everyone would admit that poverty is a terrible, gut-wrenching issue, but it’s often hard to feel since it exists a world away.

Truth x Vision exists to tell that story in a creative, compelling way. Marketing is often ignored by most non-profits, but we take our brand and our messaging very seriously. We believe that to find ourselves living in a world without extreme poverty, we need to engage the generation that will drive it home.

In order to truly connect upcoming leaders to this challenge, we need to embrace their values: Creativity, transparency and fun blended with a results-driven approach to economic development. We need projects that work, and a brand that inspires. We’ve had a good run so far, and by God’s grace we will keep going until this monster is taken down forever. Thanks for reading and I hope you join me, and us, in this crusade.”

founding verse

What Drives Us

6 “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? 7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter — when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? 8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness[a] will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
9 Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. “If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, 10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.”
